LANDSCAPE PHOTOGRAPHY

FINE ART PHOTOGRAPHY

Ever since I picked up a camera I’ve been obsessed with getting out in nature and capturing the raw beauty it has to offer. I originate from a small country town outside of Ballarat with not a lot going on in the form of grand Landscapes. So I started by simply obsessing over capturing the “perfect” shot of Lake Wendouree. Any chance I got regardless of the weather I’d be out snapping at the end of the Jetty, impatiently waiting for those miserable Ballarat clouds to finally blow over. One day my persistence paid off and I nailed it! From there I broadened my horizons so to speak and started getting up even earlier, stupidly early some would say in order to drive down coast in search of seascapes. After filling my boots and feeling like I’d conquered the Great Ocean Road, the thirst for grander landscapes kept growing and I found myself ever longing for the mountains. I was lucky enough my Father lived in Tasmania so I got myself into hiking and explored some of what Australias most picturesque state had to offer. Again, I wanted more, so in search of bigger and grander locations, we set off to NZ time and time again exploring the stunning scenery it has to offer. I’ve since been to many amazing places and never tire of witnessing the gorgeous light golden hour brings. However the older I get, the more I appreciate the simpler things. I mean I still love a huge dynamic landscapes, but an empty paddock with some warm light on it can just as easily fill my cup.

To some people Perfection is illusive and not attainable. In the past I was always been so hard on myself to do better that I never really appreciated what I had done. But now when I look back at my images I realize they are all perfect in their own way. They all captured that fleeting moment in time that is no longer and never will be. Who is anyone to argue that isn’t perfection?

I hope you enjoy a fraction of my lifetimes worth of Perfection!
